Mobile Application Analysis
Mobile Application Analysis
Performance reporting is a process of collecting and distributing project status and performance information to stakeholders. This process is done at the stage of execution of the project and is required as proof of control and prediction mechanism for project management. Mobile computing technology is now likely to support the project management process to be done without being tied to the space and time dimensions. This research provides design solutions in the form of mobile application that help performance reporting framework based on the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) fourth edition. Application prototype implemented on the Android platform. Application is tested with the value of the non-functional test of 85.87% and has met all the functional application use-case with 100% score. CodeShoppy
In project management, stakeholders are supposedly able to gather project information quickly in order to react to changes. The information gathering process also sometimes requires moving between locations and / or access to certain facilities (e.g., location survey, progress reporting, and tender auction). It is even harder to be done if the project handled is not only one and involves cross-functional teams. There needs to be a mechanism that helps managers in the process of gathering information relevant to the role of each stakeholder in mobile and real-time so that the project can be completed successfully and on time. Therefore, the PMI in his book, PMBOK, discusses communication management as one of the important fields of knowledge in project management. Knowledge in this field covers the processes required to ensure timely and proper information in putting the project on stakeholders. The process herein includes communications planning, information distribution, performance reporting, and administrative closure. Performance reporting is a process that involves the collection and dissemination of information so that each stakeholder can determine the performance of the project, i.e. how available resources are used to achieve the project objective. This process is keeping every stakeholder’wareness of project status and performance so that control of the project increases. This study produced a design of mobile application that can support the performance reporting process and issues management. The design made using the Rational Unified Process. The design is then implemented into a prototype and tested the application in terms of functional and non-function
System is modeled into a use-case diagram. The diagram has five main use-cases which are Display General Info, Issues Management, Display Performance Curve, Manage Deliverables, and Manage Gantt Chart. Also, the diagram has 4 actors, namely, users, project teams, managers, and review group. Users are generalizations of the other three actors. Use-case diagram is shown in Figure 0-3. One of the sequence diagrams in analysis phase, which use-case is to display curve, shown in Figure 0-4. To show the curve, the system will retrieve data from the database project Gantt chart. The data is then displayed in the form of curves. From the analysis sequence diagram, sequence diagram at design phase is created as shown in Figure 0-5. Application interface of curves are shown in Figure 0-6. In the display there are three curves which are plan curve (red), actual curve (yellow), and the score curve (blue).
