A Study on Fractal Patterns for the Textile Design of the Fashion Design

Since ancient times, people affected by the color and shape of nature and create a colorful pattern. Application of beautiful patterns in people’s lives on a wide range, add a lot of fun for human life. The design of modern patterns occupies an important position in many industries, especially ceramics, textile and decoration industries. It can be said that the design and manufacture of these patterns are an important part of the survival of these industries. Therefore, pattern design and making technology has been an important research field of design industry. Textile pattern design refers to the graphic design on the plane of textile cloth, which is the main value of textile products. Therefore, the pattern design is a major project designed in the textile industry. Traditional pattern design process is designed by using handcraft of the graphic designer. However, the disadvantages of the traditional pattern design process are detrimental to the future development of the textile industry. The development of computer graphics can effectively improve the scientific and information technology of the textile industry. Fractal geometry originated in nineteenth Century. By studying the iteration of a simple function on the complex plane, Mandelbrot obtained many impressive plane patterns. Obviously, Fractal geometry allows for stunning graphic designs through the computer. These patterns are called Fractal patterns. Based on Fractal geometry, this paper mainly studies the development of a rough pattern design method for textile design of the fashion design.

From the fractal theory, the most important feature of fractal patterns is self similarity. Self similarity refers to the similarity between the local and the whole of a pattern, perhaps the geometric self similarity of the rule, or the statistical self similarity of the rules. The pattern creates a similar structure between the whole and the parts. Visually, it becomes an infinitely fine structure. This infinite fine structure forms a new artistic style, and has the same aesthetic characteristics of harmony and symmetry as the traditional art style. This paper introduces a method of generating Fractal pattern. According to the generating Fractal pattern system and Java programming language, the escape time algorithm program has been developed. Application of the developed program to generate Julia set, the textile cloth patterns and art cloth patterns have been designed.
